Racing starts at 7 PM Monday night at Alpine Valley in East Troy, Wi. and is open to everyone. It is a 7 week season and costs just $45 and includes a year end banquet with awards and prizes.

You can buy a ski pass at the Ski School desk at a reduced rate of $20. You generally take two runs and the times are added together. Each run is on a separate side by side Giant Slalom course similiar to NASTAR. Come on out and enjoy the snow.

Goggle Tan

It was a Bluebird day at Cascade Wednesday before the warm up arrived. Vacationers jammed the area like busy bees swarming on honey. Temps will drop on New Years Eve and skiing will be winter-like again.

Ski Areas Close

It looks like Marquette Mountain and Ski Brule are closed. The last remaining open areas shut down for the season April 3rd and April 4th. Meanwhile parts of Colorado and Wyoming are still getting dumped on. Soon, unless you want to go to Oregon or Chile to ski it may be time to find a summer sport. Start dreaming of late November powder days.

Pond Skimming

Tyrol Basin was open Sunday March 28th and people took advantage of it. Nearly all runs were open although conditions have been better. You have to give them credit. They blew snow Thursday night. Pond skimming started at 3PM and about 13 participants schussed down the hill and launched themselves into the water outfitted with life jackets and crash helmets as rescuers remained nearby by in a 14 foot Sea Nymph.

One contestant had water skis that looked like they were more than 220 cms long. Unfortunately he was unable to navigate the hill and launch himself with full speed.
He still made a splash.
