A lake effect snow squall hammered the airport yesterday dumping more than 14 inches. In some neighborhoods 5 miles away there was no snow and sunny skies. It was a record snowfall at the airport for March 2nd. Big, billowy cumulus clouds hung over the lakefront for 3 days as a nor'eastaer collided with northwest winds and dropped a narrow band of snow along the lake shore from Fox Point to Racine.
